Matt Stoltz founded Church of Normal in Minnesota on April 17, 2025. The public direction of the organization is nonreligious: curiosity, dignity, creative expression, and a sense of belonging without a required creed.
What we are building
The starting work is accessible online education and creative material. NORMAL Education brings together Waseca history, constitutional questions, source literacy, and simulation exercises. Its premise is personal and practical: what would Matt teach if he ran the high school program?
The aim is to help people ask better questions about their town and their shared life. Read an original record. Consider a different interpretation. Make something, explain your choices, and revise it when you learn more.
Why the name “Church”?
The name comes from a history of writing about belief, institutions, recovery, and belonging. That history remains in the Theology Archive. Today’s mission welcomes religious and nonreligious people equally. The archive is a record of ideas; it does not set a test for participation.
Humor has its own room
Satire is labeled where readers enter it. Creative characters, theological metaphors, and jokes do not describe the corporation's legal status or establish factual claims about real people.
The organization and the wider work
Church of Normal is the Minnesota nonprofit corporation. Normal Like Peter is Matt's wider publishing home, where educational and creative work is available. Flower Insider Technologies is his separate commercial technology work. A link between these sites does not make a commercial offer a nonprofit program.
